What is glucosamine?
Glucosamine occurs naturally in the body and is found within cartilage, which acts as a cushion around joints. It also helps to develop other tissues, such as tendons, which are vital for joint health. Dogs produce less glucosamine as they age and so become less effective at rebuilding cartilage. This is why joint problems primarily occur in older dogs – or highly active dogs whose joints are put under stress on a daily basis.
